Dear Parents/Guardians,
Warm greetings on your child’s/ ward’s posting to Hai Sing Catholic School!
Please note that students do not need to report to their posted secondary schools upon receiving their S1 posting results.
The school will utilise Parents Gateway (PG) as the primary communication channel to provide pertinent information that would aid you in preparing your child/ ward for the first day of school.
Additionally, you can access your child’s/ ward’s 2024 Sec 1 class allocation through Parents Gateway.

For security reasons and to avoid overcrowding, parents will need to book an appointment slot using the QR code below. The school security may need to see your the appointment confirmation at the guard house.
In addition to booking appointment slot for your visit, we also seek the cooperation of parents/ guardians to ensure the following:
1. Students coming to the school should be in proper attire (e.g. no coloured hair).
2. Please do not come to the school if you are unwell or given a medical certificate.
MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)
For students whose 2024 MOE FAS applications have been approved by their primary schools, please bring the letter of approval to the Hai Sing Catholic School general office for further assistance.

HAI SING CATHOLIC SCHOOL Co Curricular Activities (CCA) Information
The CCA Programme provides students with a platform to discover their interests and talents. As one of the key Student Development Experiences (SDEs) in school, CCA plays an important role in the holistic development and well-being of our students.
The 2024 Secondary One Students will be given the CCA Option Form during the Orientation Programme. Please submit the CCA Option Form by 7th January 2024.

Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB)
Full SBB is part of MOE’s ongoing efforts to nurture the joy of learning and develop multiple pathways to cater to different strengths and interests of students.
With Full SBB, we are moving towards a secondary school education where students learn each subject at the level that best caters to their overall strengths, interests and learning needs.

Personalised Digital Literacy Programme (PDLP)
National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) is a programme where all secondary school students will own a school-prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD). Secondary one students would be invited to purchase a school-prescribed PLD. Students who are Singapore Citizens can use their Edusave Account to pay for the PLD.
The PLD will be used in tandem with the national e-learning platform – the Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS) – as well as other educational technology tools to personalise and enhance students’ learning. This will also enable students to acquire digital skills and apply these skills as they navigate an increasingly digitised world.

Art/Music Elective Programme (AEP/MEP)
Secondary One students who exhibit interest and passion for Art/Music can apply for Art/Music Elective Programme (AEP/MEP) in the following AEP/MEP Centres:

MEP: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
MEP: Dunman High School
The online application is open from 3 -16 January 2024.
Successful applicants will attend weekly lessons in the afternoon at the AEP/MEP Centre and are expected to commit to the programme for 4 years. Prior to application, interested students and their parents should work closely with the students’ secondary schools to ensure that their school timetable and commitments would allow them to participate fully in the AEP/MEP.

First Day of School
For security reasons, parents are not allowed to enter the school compound if you are sending your child/ ward to school. Teachers and student leaders wearing school ties or lanyards will be ready to assist your child/ward when he/she enters the school compound.

Reporting Time: 7:30am (be seated for silent reading from 7.15am)

Attire and Grooming
• HSC half uniform (HSC Polo T-shirt with blue uniform shorts/skirt), with all-white socks and all-white school shoes. We seek your understanding that primary school uniform is only allowed to be worn if your child/ward is awaiting a transfer request outcome from another school.
• HAIsians are also expected to be well groomed, with a neat haircut and fingernails trimmed short.
Things to bring
All students are to have the following items with them every day:
English Language story book
Writing materials
Water bottle
Money (sufficient for recess and lunch)
Student Handbook (to be issued when school starts)
• Please do not send your child to school if s/he is unwell and/ or is given a medical certificate.
IMPORTANT
Morning assembly starts punctually at 7:30am daily. Hence, students should be seated at the assembly venue earlier.
We believe that being punctual and having proper attire and grooming is an outward expression of their readiness to learn and grow. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to support their child/ward to be responsible for their own grooming and punctuality.
Please note that as part of our school’s efforts to promote overall student wellbeing, the school has a strict mobile phone usage policy to regulate screen time while in school. This policy is implemented with the intention of fostering a conducive learning environment that encourages students to interact with one another face to face, and promoting meaningful connections and effective communication within the school community. Students are not allowed to use their handphones within curriculum hours. Should you wish to contact your child/ward, please call the school’s General Office at 6582 7864. We will share more information with your child/ward during the orientation to help your child/ward better understand the rules and expectations.
Dental Service in School (Mobile Dental Service) For 2024 Secondary 1 students. This service will be in operation from January 2024 to March 2024.
2024 Secondary 1 Orientation Programme
To ease your child/ward’s transition into secondary school life, we have planned a four-day orientation programme to welcome him/her into the Hai Sing Family and help him/her adapt to the new learning environment. The activities will also help them to forge friendships and bonds with their new classmates and teachers.
Please refer to the table below for the dismissal times. A detailed programme sheet will be distributed to your child/ward on his/her first day of school.

Parents of Secondary One students are cordially invited to the school on Thursday, 4th January, to attend our inaugural Parent-Teacher Conference in the hall. The conference will feature addresses by school leaders and key personnel. Further details will be shared through Parents Gateway, where you can confirm your attendance.
Additionally, your child/ward will be participating in a performance as we conclude day three of the orientation programme. After the performance, parents are welcome to leave for home with your child/ward. We look forward to your presence during this event.
Secondary One Students Using Primary Level School Smart Card (SSC)
All students entering Secondary One in January 2024 will be issued with a new Secondary Level School Smart Card (SSC). TransitLink will deliver the cards to secondary schools by April 2024.
While Secondary One students are waiting for their Secondary Level SSCs to be ready, they can continue to use their Primary Level SSCs for concessionary travel till end-April 2024. Students can still purchase the Bus Concession Pass (BCP) using their Primary Level SSCs but they would need to purchase the BCP for Secondary School students.
Appeals for Transfer OUT
(A) Appeal for transfer for serious medical conditions: Medical Appeal Exercise (MAE)
If you have been posted to Hai Sing Catholic School, but assess that the school is unable to accommodate your child’s physical health needs, you may appeal for a transfer out. Appeals can be filed at the school’s general office in person by 12pm on 21 December 2023.
All appeals must be accompanied by relevant supporting documents, such as medical reports, letters from doctors.
The appeal results will be released in early January 2024.
(B) Students who are posted to Hai Sing Catholic School but would like to seek a transfer OUT due to other (non-medical) reasons

While awaiting reply from the other school, you will not need to purchase HSCS uniforms and books.
Appeals for Transfer IN
Students who wish to appeal to transfer to Hai Sing Catholic School:
For non-medical reasons, please submit your appeal via this online form by 27 December 2023, 12pm. You may click on this link for the digital copy.
Please note that your PSLE score should meet the school's cut-off point of the posting year. The appeal will be subject to available vacancies and the school’s admission criteria.
The application is deemed to be unsuccessful if you do not hear from the school by 2 January 2024.
